The United Arab Emirates is a nation consisting of seven emirates, each acting almost like a separate nation of sorts, who work together to make sure they are not invaided by other countries and so they can make the most out of cooperation rather than the conflict the surrounding countries are dealing with. The most famous emirate to the West, Dubai, is its major business center, with a booming tourist industry helped by the ambition's plan of its pseudo-monarch, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which includes construction projects from the contruction of several palm shaped islands that dramatically increase viable land and tourist space, and the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa.

While this makes the rest of the emirates seem not as strong economically, Dubai is not the major political emirate, an honor that goes to the emirate of Abu Dhabi, home to the country's capital. As Abu Dhabi is also the largest emirate in the group, it has the benefit of having the most oil in the entire country, further adding to its political significance.

While the previous two emirates have been pretty powerful on to major fronts, politics and economy, the emirate of Sharjah is considered to be the center of culture for the country, boasting historical towns, museums, and souqs. This emirate is also, according to Lonely Planet, the only region that is alcohol free, making it have a large family tourism appeal for those who want a more historical view of the region.

Like the other previous emirates, the remaining emirates of Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, and Umm al-Quwain are all experiencing major westernization efforts, mainly in the name of currency. These regions are all using the united wealth of the oil that they have to fund the huge project, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi leading this effort. The major reason that they are doing this is lzargely in part due to the fact that the leaders want a stable economy that is not affected by the amount of a single resource, like oil, and in order to preserve the balance of political power, as tourism helps remove the power struggle for oil that a shortage of the resource would create, as the emirates would be able to rely on a more sustainable source of money; tourism
